Where Does Your Happiness Come From?

The past two years have truly been the hardest years in our family's life.  We lost our business in the bad economy, lost our health care, lost the ability to be able to pay our bills, have feared losing our home, & in the midst of all this, we lost one of the kids in my sons band in a tragic accident.

I tell you all of this to say one thing - We didn't lose our very best friend, Jesus, throughout these trials.  He was always there just waiting for us to talk to Him about each & every trial that was brought our way.  Sometimes we asked Him to carry us, because we just couldn't walk anymore.

Because of the past two trial filled years, I've learned the true meaning of happiness!  Jesus tells me these things in the Bible:

Matthew 6:25-27
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

 Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Romans 8:31
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Each day I try to remember all the amazing things that I have to be thankful for.  Jesus has allowed all the trials in life to make our family stronger.  I may never understand the purpose of the trials, but we can trust that Jesus always knows what's best for us.
